The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry meets with the Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 April 2021, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Adham Ikramov met with the Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) Zafar Makhmudov.

Within the framework of the meeting, the leaders of the CCI and CAREC discussed the joint work carried out within the framework of the REAP (resource efficiency in agroindustry) project, implemented with the assistance of the European Union, including trainings on the training of resource efficiency consultants, which are taking place these days in Tashkent, reports press service of the CCI.

The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted the importance of training consultants in the field of sustainable production so that they could later independently visit domestic agricultural enterprises and provide them with practical assistance in introducing resource-efficient production methods in the processing of fruit and vegetable products, and thereby help entrepreneurs to reduce the cost of production and increase competitiveness.

In turn, the head of CAREC noted the great opportunities and prospects for the implementation of new projects in the field of preventing the negative consequences of climate change, environmental protection, as well as the development of a green economy.

The parties noted the need to attract donor funds, including USAID, the Green Climate Fund, UNDP and others, for the implementation of projects aimed at saving and rational use of natural resources in the Central Asia region, improving the environmental situation, mitigating the socio-economic consequences of the Aral Sea region, etc. etc.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Makhmudov invited the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry to take part in a conference in honor of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of CAREC, which is scheduled for 26-27 July 2021. in Dushanbe, in which the participation of high-level representatives from 5 countries of Central Asia is also expected.
