The Ambassador of Uzbekistan discusses with the co-chairman of the Austrian part of the IGC the prospects for expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 December, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Abat Fayzullayev held a videoconference meeting with the Director of the Department for External Economic Relations, Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Federal Ministry of Digitalization and Economy of Austria, co-chairman of the Uzbek-Austrian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation Franz Wessig, during which the prospects of bilateral cooperation in the economic direction and in the field of digitalization were discussed, Dunyo news agency reported.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on expanding bilateral trade and economic relations, as well as the use of new non-standard approaches to support and stimulate business entities in the current environment.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan provided detailed information on the systemic work carried out in the republic to reform state enterprises and privatize state assets. The main provisions of the decree of the President of Uzbekistan "On measures to accelerate the reform of enterprises with the participation of the state and the privatization of state assets" from 27 October 2020 were clarified. The investment attractiveness of several large state-owned enterprises and business associations subject to transformation was demonstrated, and a proposal was made to take an active part in this process.

The parties also discussed the prospects for expanding Uzbek-Austrian cooperation in the development of the sphere of electronic government (e-government). The Austrian side expressed interest in implementing joint projects in this area and announced its readiness to consider the possibility of organizing master classes for Uzbek specialists in the field of digitalization of public services.

In the conversation, the priority areas for the exchange of experience in the implementation of information technologies in management processes to reduce the costs of social communications and the development of an electronic document management system were considered.

It should be noted the active participation of Austrian companies in the process of introducing digital technologies within the framework of social and economic projects implemented in Uzbekistan. In particular, the Austrian company AME International is currently implementing a project to develop a digitalization strategy for the healthcare system in Uzbekistan (e-health). The goal of this project is to carry out a comprehensive analysis and assessment, as well as to create a general strategy for the digitalization of the health care system of the republic using modern innovative technologies.
