Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 September 2020, an online meeting was held on organizing the activities of the Advisory Council for the Development of Women’s Entrepreneurship under the Commission on Ensuring Gender Equality of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
It was attended by members of the Commission and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Ministry for Support of Mahalla and Family, as well as media workers.
It was noted that the development of women’s entrepreneurship is one of the most important processes taking place in the world. In particular, the share of small and medium-sized businesses in GDP is growing significantly in those countries where special attention is paid to cluster activities of women entrepreneurs.
It is proposed to establish an Advisory Council for the Development of Women’s Entrepreneurship in order to develop an integrated approach to women’s entrepreneurship, implement programs to support enterprises run by women, provide them with access to information, market, education and financial resources, and encourage them to start their own business.
The Advisory Council is a permanent body created to strengthen public-private sector cooperation mechanisms and to ensure open dialogue with partners and civil society on the development of women’s entrepreneurship.
The Council will also develop proposals aimed at further supporting women’s entrepreneurial initiatives, assisting them in the development of family businesses, studying and improving the legal framework in this area.
During the meeting, the concept, work plan and programs related to the activities of the Advisory Council were discussed, its composition was approved. The urgent tasks for the effective establishment of the new structure’s activities have been identified.
