Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Singapore is consistently working to attract Singaporean companies to implement investment projects in priority sectors of the economy, Dunyo news agency reported.
Thus, the Uzbek diplomats held a number of meetings and negotiations with the director of the Singapore company Indorama Corporation Pte Ltd Prakash Kejrival and discussed issues of expanding the company's activities in Uzbekistan, in particular the introduction of a cluster system for cotton production in the Ferghana region.
P. Kejrival agreed with the opinion on the prospects of expanding the activities of Indorama Corporation Pte Ltd, taking into account the positive experience of similar projects being implemented in Syrdarya and Kashkadarya regions within the framework of organizing production in the form of cotton and textile clusters.
An online meeting of P. Kejrival with the governor of the Ferghana region H. Bozorov took place today. During the meeting, the Singaporean side presented a detailed presentation on the implementation of the Indorama Corporation Pte Ltd project for organizing production in the form of a cotton-textile cluster in Kashkadarya region with the introduction of advanced agrotechnical methods of processing and irrigation of agricultural lands using modern technology, high-quality fertilizers and analysis of laboratory data soils, which ultimately ensured a high yield of the project areas.
In this context, P. Kejrival proposed to consider the possibility of providing Indorama Corporation Pte Ltd with agricultural land in Besharyk, Uzbekistan and Dangara districts of Ferghana region for the introduction of a cluster system for sowing and picking cotton with its subsequent processing on the basis of IP JSC Indorama Kokand Textile.
Bozorov made a detailed presentation of the modern economic and investment potential of the Ferghana region, and also expressed interest in jointly with Indorama Corporation Pte Ltd the implementation of a cluster system for growing cotton, providing for the introduction of the international standard "Best Cotton Initiative", which allows increasing the export opportunities of the republic , as well as ensuring the attractiveness of the Uzbek market for large foreign manufacturers of finished textile products.
In order to further develop this project, an agreement was reached on sending preliminary proposals to Indorama Corporation Pte Ltd for the implementation of the project for organizing a cluster system for growing cotton in the Ferghana region for consideration.
