Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov, a conference call was held on ensuring the fulfillment of forecast export indicators by implementing practical measures to use available resources and identify additional reserves for accelerated growth in export volumes in the fourth quarter of the current year. The meeting was attended by the heads of ministries, departments, industry associations, diplomatic missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan abroad, commercial banks, as well as executive authorities of the regions, the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the city of Tashkent.
The implemented practical measures to support exporters were noted - for example, the Export Promotion Agency allocated funds to replenish the working capital of exporting enterprises, and the Entrepreneurship Support Fund provided guarantees for exporters to receive credit resources
It was also announced that despite these measures, in a number of industries and regions at the moment there is a lag behind the expected export indicators, in connection with which the heads of the relevant ministries, departments, industry associations and local executive authorities were tasked to increase export volumes in the 4th quarter of this year in relation to the indicators of 2019.
Responsible leaders were instructed to develop plans for priority measures to increase export volumes, indicating exporting enterprises, the range and volumes of export-oriented products, the need for raw materials for its production, the need for credit resources to replenish working capital, problematic issues, for the solution of which the assistance of diplomatic missions is required abroad and other issues.
In this context, within the framework of regional investment programs, the progress in the implementation of projects aimed at creating value chains and increasing export potential was also reviewed. The need to prioritize export-oriented investment projects was noted, in connection with which it was instructed to increase the share of projects aimed at manufacturing and exporting products with high added value in investment programs for the period 2021-2023.
It was also instructed to conduct an inventory of the export-oriented investment projects put into operation in order to study the structure of their exports, identify the most popular commodity items in foreign markets and implement measures to actively promote and increase the export of these types of products with the involvement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Export Promotion Agency.
The importance of targeted work to assist exporters in returning previously paid amounts of value added tax to exporters was noted: in total, since the beginning of the year, VAT refunds have been made to 1,300 exporting enterprises. The need to continue systematic work to identify and resolve issues in this direction was indicated, for which it was instructed to ensure that responsible employees of the territorial divisions of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and the State Tax Committee are assigned to each exporting enterprise.
As a result of the meeting, the need for coordinated work of the relevant ministries, departments and local executive authorities, as well as diplomatic missions abroad, in order to unconditionally fulfill the tasks set, was emphasized.
Control over the execution of these instructions will be carried out on an ongoing basis by the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
