Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Authorities in Tashkent Region continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a high school student at a school in Almalyk.

Preliminary information indicates that the 17-year-old girl passed away on 28 January 2026, before the start of the school’s educational hour, and the incident is not related to the assembly, the press service of the regional police department reported.

The department urged the public not to spread unverified information and to rely only on official sources.

The press service of the Child Ombudsman emphasized that the situation is under the control of the Commissioner for Children’s Rights and is being thoroughly examined.

A forensic medical examination has been ordered, and the relevant materials have been sent to the school and the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the region.

A regional representative of the Child Ombudsman visited the site to study the circumstances in detail. Additional information will be provided as the investigation progresses.

Reports of the tragedy appeared on social media on February 10. High school students had been gathered for an educational meeting during which police officers spoke about preventing the spread of rumors. Social media posts suggested that a student suffered a ruptured blood clot during the meeting.

The Emergency Medical Service confirmed that despite medical assistance being provided, the student died.

A preliminary investigation is currently underway, and final conclusions will be released upon the completion of the inquiry.
