Sustainable Fitch Confirms Sustainability Ratings of Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company and Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex at “3”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — International rating agency Sustainable Fitch has confirmed the sustainability entity ratings of Uzbekistan’s largest mining and metallurgical enterprises — Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company (NMMC) and Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AGMK) — at level “3”.

At the same time, the overall score of NMMC increased from 51 to 54 points, while AGMK’s score rose from 56 to 59 points.

According to the agency, these results reflect the companies’ implementation of sustainable development strategies that take into account environmental and social factors typical for the mining and metallurgical industry.

NMMC is implementing measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote efficient use of natural resources. Meanwhile, AGMK is introducing a long-term climate strategy aimed at lowering the carbon intensity of production and expanding the use of renewable energy sources.

Experts at Sustainable Fitch also highlighted the companies’ strong corporate governance practices, including transparent financial reporting and effective management of risks and tax obligations. These factors contribute to improving the resilience of the enterprises and strengthening their positions at the international level.
