Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A resolution of the President "On approval of the Concept for the development of the forestry system of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030" was adopted.

In accordance with the resolution, a "zero" rental rate will be applied to tenants who have leased forest land in 2020-2022 on the following conditions:

within 5 years - to land occupied by newly erected and leased plantations of walnut orchards (pistachios, almonds, walnuts) on undeveloped land plots of the forest fund, as well as fast-growing trees (paulownia, poplar);

within 10 years - during the construction of plantations of desert plants (saxaul, solyanka, kandym, karabarak) with the development of forest lands located in a desert area, not provided with water, not covered with forest;

within 1 and 3 years, respectively - during the construction of plantations of agricultural food crops (legumes, oil, cereal crops, vegetables, melons) and medicinal plants with the development of forest lands not provided with water, not covered with forests.

Starting from 1 January  2021, in the case of hiring unemployed persons registered in employment assistance centers, subsidies will be paid from the State Employment Promotion Fund to cover the costs of paying them wages for 6 months in the amount of 50 percent of the average monthly wages, but not more than twice the size of the BRV for each month.

The resolution approved the Concept for the Development of the Forestry System of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030 and the "Road Map" for its implementation in 2020-2022.

According to the Concept, by 2030 it is planned to bring:

• the area of forest fund lands is up to 14 million hectares, of which forest lands - up to 6 million hectares;

• volume of seed procurement - up to 840 tons per year;

• the number of bee colonies - up to 300 thousand;

• the volume of production of agricultural food products - up to 32 thousand tons per year;

• the volume of cultivation of medicinal plants - up to 11.6 thousand tons per year.

Also, in accordance with the resolution, the institution of the honorary title "Honored Forester of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was determined.
