State Tourism Committee, KOICA expert discuss tourism development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- State Committee of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development and Korean Agency for International Cooperation (KOICA) Kwang Nam Kim held a meeting.

Mr. Kim is an expert in tourism with more than 33 years of experience. He worked for many years in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Korea, and also worked in the UNWTO (World Tourism Organization). In 2016-2018, he carried out research in the field of tourism and worked out recommendations for development of tourism industry and assisted in process of retraining personnel in Uzbekistan, the press service of the State Committee for Tourism Development said.

At the meeting, the sides discussed the results of the Korean expert’s research and his work in the RTACCCP for two years.

In the process of consulting activities at the Center, Mr. Kim issued two consulting books in which he made recommendations for development of tourism in Uzbekistan and described in detail the development plan for improving the tourism industry and introducing Korean experience. He was engaged in organization of events on tourism, lectured, conducted trainings and consultations for university students and tourism workers.

The expert of KOICA believes that Uzbekistan has great potential in the sphere of tourism and is confident that this sector should play an even greater role in the economic growth of the country.

It was noted that at the moment the republic is actively working on improving the tourism sector, developing new routes and promoting them, attracting investors to the tourism infrastructure and improving the skills of the tourism industry employees.

The parties agreed that the recommendations of Mr. Kim will be applied in the activities of the State Committee and will be taken as a basis for new initiatives in the field of tourism.
