State Museum of Uzbekistan exhibits remains of Archidiscodon

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- State Museum of Uzbekistan restored and exhibited a unique exhibit – remains of Archidiscodon, Uzbektourism said.

Remains of Archidiscodon were discovered in Tashkent region – 20 km away from Ahangaran near Ovjasay settlement – in October 2013. It became one of the important discoveries in last 60 years, which made revolution in many areas of science.

Uzbek scientists proved that the remains belong to Archidiscodon (Archidiscodon meridionalis Nesti). It is ancient ancestor of African, Indian and dwarf elephants, as well as mammoth. This proves that Archidiscodons lived in territory of Uzbekistan.

The mammoth was restored by specialists of the State Museum of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Institute of Chemistry and Physics of polymers. Uzbek scientists developed special glue, which was used at restoration works.
