At the session, it was underlined that the average price for sugar has been at 2,900-3,200 soums since the beginning of the year at declared price of 2,298 soums and average exchange price of 2,413 soums per kg.
But, the prices hiked to 3,500-4,000 soums at the period from 9 to 14 April 2015. The sugar producers underlined that sales of sugar rose by 170% in January-April 2015 compared to the same period, including by 135% in April. The companies received raw materials for sugar production twice more in April 2015 compared to the same period of 2014. The sugar supplies to wholesale buyers were carried out in unlimited volume.
Some wholesale and retail traders create artificial deficit of sugar due to growth of demand of population. The demand for sugar increased due to summer period and people tried to create sugar reserves at home as prices for sugar sharply soared in May-July 2014.
Khorazm Shakar and Angren Shakar stated that they are ready to increase sugar production and supply to meet demand of population and ensure stable sugar prices.
The committee underlined that undertaken measures helped to decrease retail price for sugar at trade markets and shops up to 2,900-3,200 soums per kg.
