Shavkat Mirziyoyev receives Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 February, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Strategy and Finance of the Republic of Korea Kim Dong Yeon.

Uzbek President noted the observed stable dynamics of expanding bilateral multifaceted cooperation and the consistent strengthening of centuries-old ties of friendship and strategic partnership between the two states, the Uzbek president’s press service said.

It was particularly emphasized that the historic high-level visit to the Republic of Korea in November 2017 and the agreements reached on its results allowed the Uzbek-Korean cooperation to be brought to a qualitatively new level.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated the leadership and the people of the Republic of Korea on the beginning of the Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang and wished this globally successful sporting event to be successful.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea expressed gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for decision to introduce a visa-free regime for the citizens of the Republic of Korea, which will certainly contribute to a significant increase in the tourist flow to our country and strengthening business contacts.

Over the years of cooperation in the economy of Uzbekistan, South Korean investments into Uzbekistan reached US$7 billion, more than 500 enterprises with the participation of companies of the Republic of Korea have been created in Uzbekistan.

Last year, the volume of mutual trade exceeded US$1.3 billion. In accordance with the approved Roadmap, today more than 60 investment projects are being prepared and implemented to create modern facilities and modernize infrastructure in our country for a total amount of more than US$6 billion.

Joint programs and activities aimed at the introduction of advanced South Korean experience, knowledge and technologies into various sectors of the economy and the social sphere of the country are actively implemented. Leading experts from the Republic of Korea are involved as consultants and advisers to ministries, departments and organizations of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, a substantive exchange of views took place on the promising areas of further expansion of cooperation in trade, economic, investment, innovation, banking and finance and other spheres.

At the end of the meeting, Kim Dong Yeon reaffirmed the readiness of the South Korean side to further strengthen the relations of strategic partnership and expand the full-scale mutually beneficial cooperation between the two states.
