Shavkat Mirziyoyev Expresses Condolences on the Passing of Kallibek Kamalov

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has expressed his deep condolences on the passing of the distinguished statesman and public figure, honored labor veteran Kallibek Kamalov, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

Kallibek Kamalov passed away on 11 February 2026, at the age of 100. He dedicated his entire life to serving the state and the people, advancing the development of Karakalpakstan, and fostering social harmony.

Kallibek Kamalov was born on 18 March 1926, in the Takhtakupyr District of Karakalpakstan. After completing secondary school and fulfilling his military service, he graduated from Nukus State University in 1955.

He began his professional career as secretary of the youth committee and later held key positions, including Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Karakalpak Republic and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Nukus city.

Recognized for his exceptional organizational skills, he served effectively as Minister of Communal Services, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of the Karakalpak Republic, and Secretary of the Karakalpak Party Committee.

From 1959 to 1963, Kamalov served as Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Karakalpak Republic, and from 1963 to 1984, as First Secretary of the Karakalpak Party Committee. In these positions of responsibility, he made a substantial contribution to the socio-economic development of the region, the establishment of an efficient governance system, and the growth of key economic sectors.

From 1984 to 1986, Kallibek Kamalov also distinguished himself in diplomatic service.

In his later years, he chaired the Public Council of Veterans of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, actively supporting the older generation, mentoring youth, and promoting an atmosphere of peace, unity, and mutual respect in society.

Kamalov’s achievements for the state and the people were duly recognized with high national honors, including the Shukhrat Medal and the El-yurt Khurmati Order.

The memory of Kallibek Kamalov and his decades of devoted service to the Motherland and its people will forever remain in the hearts of his compatriots.
