Sergey Lebedev meets with Uzbek CEC chief
The CIS observation mission started its work in Uzbekistan on 12 March 2015 to observe election of the President of Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, CEC chief briefed the guest on implementation of programme of main measures on preparing and holding elections of the President of Uzbekistan. The CIS official also received information on pre-election campaign, conducted by four presidential hopefuls. It was noted that all four candidates received equal opportunities to use mass media and hold meetings with the voters.
Sergey Lebedev said that the CIS observation mission includes 72 observers from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and CIS Executive Committee.
He said that opportunity to observe presidential elections in Uzbekistan, the CIS Executive Committee considers as high trust of the Uzbek side. He said that the observers have free access to polling stations and feel openness of all bodies.
Lebedev said that the mission will follow principles of objectiveness and respect international and national laws.
