Senate hosts meeting with the US delegation

On 1 February 2018, First Deputy Chairman of Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Sadyk Safoyev met with First Deputy Assistant Secretary of US State for South and Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells.
During the meeting, the guest was informed about the essence and significance of key reforms in the Republic of Uzbekistan, stemming from the main provisions of the State Program for the Implementation of the Strategy of Action for the five priority development directions of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021. in "Year of support of active entrepreneurship, innovative ideas and technologies".
The sides discussed the current state and prospects for cooperation in such areas as further development of the inter-parliamentary dialogue, cooperation in promoting democratic reforms, intensification of trade, economic and investment ties between the two countries.
Particular attention was paid to the efforts of the Republic of Uzbekistan to develop regional cooperation based on the principles of good-neighborliness and mutual integration.
Alice Wells highly appreciated the positive changes and transformations taking place in Uzbekistan, noting that the country has started a dynamic movement towards a completely new quality of development.
