Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 October 2019, Tanzili Narbaeva, Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and a delegation of the International Labor Organization led by Jonas Astrup, chief technical adviser of the Third-Party Monitoring project.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of prevention of forced labor, as well as the progress of the relevant monitoring in the current year.
It was noted that in the Republic of Uzbekistan a set of legal, organizational and practical measures are being taken to counter and prevent forced labor. This urgent and especially important issue is under the constant control of the leadership of the republic. So, since 2013, the use of forced labor in agriculture has been monitored using the ILO methodology and with the direct participation of its experts.
The parties agreed to develop additional measures to comply with labor standards, as well as to prevent the risks of forced labor.
