Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A government resolution “On additional measures to ensure the provision of the domestic consumer market with basic types of food products” was adopted.

According to the resolution, in 2021, the level of ensuring the volume of production of basic types of food and agricultural products will be provided at the expense of internal resources.

The resolution approved the forecast volumes of production of the main types of food and agricultural products in the context of regions.

Based on this, it was determined that in total the republic will produce 2,449,108 tonnes of potatoes, 227,222 tonnes of rice, 1,584,863 tonnes of meat, 8,124,595 thousand eggs.

Also, it is envisaged to import on the basis of import 78,000 tonnes of vegetable oil, 64,000 tonnes of sugar, 300,000 tonnes of potatoes, 40,000 tonnes of meat.

The resolution approved the composition of the Republican working group on the production of food and agricultural products, their systematic delivery to the domestic market, constant monitoring of prices and the implementation of operational measures.

The head of the Republican working group is the adviser to the Prime Minister on food security issues.

Seed stocks of potatoes will be created for sowing on an area of at least 10 percent of the annual area of potato sowing, a total of at least 87 thousand hectares.

Since 2021, in favorable areas with good soil and climatic conditions, water supply is allowed to grow potatoes in areas of up to 1 hectare.

In order to import food and agricultural products from abroad, commercial banks will issue loans to business entities in accordance with the established procedure for working capital.
