School buses to be purchased for remote areas

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan refuted incorrect information in the media about providing all schools with buses for the transportation of pupils by the end of the year.

The ministry’s statement says that President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on November 2 on organization of the effective implementation of the planned reforms to further develop the public education system.

During the meeting, the task was set to transform the local branches of schools into full-fledged schools by 1 January 2019. At the same time, it was instructed to study the issue of providing buses for the transportation of students in places where it is inappropriate to create full-fledged schools.

It should be noted that more than 9,600 schools function in the system of the Ministry of Public Education, and it is not possible to provide all schools with buses within two months. Therefore, this initiative will primarily affect schools in remote areas.
