Sardor Umurzakov holds negotiations with the Japanese Delegation headed by the Mayor of Nagoya

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12 December, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade hosted the negotiations headed by Minister S. Umurzakov with the Japanese Delegation headed by the Mayor of Nagoya (Japan) arrived in Uzbekistan shortly before the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Japan.

The negotiations also involved the management of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Uzbekistan Airways JSC, and Uzbekistan Airports JSC.

Takashi Kawamura noted that the Japanese government is carefully preparing for the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which can be a landmark event for investment, trade and economic cooperation, and will significantly contribute to the full-scale rapprochement of the two countries.

Sardor Umurzakov emphasized that it is important to increase the number of joint projects and reduce imbalance in mutual trade through establishing supplies of high-quality Uzbek products to the Japanese market, in particular, fresh and dried fruit and vegetables. Participants also considered prospects of cooperation within projects for the production of high-quality textile products and accessories, medicines and medical supplies.

Besides, there is a lack of significant potential in power industry and production of construction materials using leading Japanese brands.

The parties also discussed the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, i.e. air service between the airports of Nagoya and Tashkent. The Mayor of Nagoya handed the official invitation to flights along the Nagoya-Tashkent route to First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airways U. Khusanov.

The parties additionally voiced proposals on cooperation within the project providing land port as part of the International Intermodal Logistic Center in Navoi Region involving experience, resources and technologies of Nagoya leading companies.

The meeting finished in determination of priority joint steps within the outlined cooperation between the Mayor’s Office of Nagoya and the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade.
