Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Restrictions on the movement of public and other types of transport during the quarantine period increased the demand for taxi services among the population. Unfortunately, in difficult conditions on the part of taxi service providers, cases of artificially high prices for the transportation of passengers and delivery have become more frequent, quarantine requirements are not always observed. All this causes public outrage. This was reported by the press service of the State Tax Commitee of Uzbekistan.
To study these issues in relation to legal entities and individuals providing taxi services during the quarantine period in Tashkent on 17 July, control measures were carried out. Specialists of the Tashkent City Transport Department, State Tax Service and Sanitary and Epidemiological Services analyzed the current situation on the roads.
At 14 stationary posts of the road patrol service from 10-00 to 17-00 o’clock, it was studied to what extent taxi drivers follow the established standards of sanitary and epidemiological safety, the presence of a license to operate, what is the cost for the provision of services.
During the control measures, 45 cases of offenses were detected: non-compliance with sanitary and epidemiological standards (22), illegal activity was revealed (23). The relevant services have drawn up protocols on them.
It is worth noting that, according to article 176-3 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan, engaging in activities for the carriage of passengers by road without a license entails the imposition of a fine on citizens from twenty to one hundred base calculated values, that is, from 4.5 million soums to 22.3 million soums.
Tax officials have found out that the prices for taxi services are doubled. This was reported by 108 interviewed disgruntled passengers.
How legitimate and moral is it to unreasonably overcharge prices in the current difficult situation for society? The question is addressed to all unscrupulous citizens.
