Rosselkhoznadzor bans the supply of tomatoes and peppers from the Kashkadarya region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- When carrying out quarantine phytosanitary control of tomato fruits received on the territory of the Russian Federation from the Uzbek manufacturer SUNNY LAND EXPORT LLC (Kashkadarya region), accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the National Organization for Quarantine and Plant Protection of the Republic Uzbekistan (NPPO of Uzbekistan), Rosselkhoznadzor detected a tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) - an object in respect of which the Rosselkhoznadzor introduced a temporary quarantine phytosanitary measure.

In order to preserve phytosanitary well-being and prevent the spread of this object on the territory of the Russian Federation, the Rosselkhoznadzor from 11 December 2020 introduces a ban on the import of tomato and pepper fruits into Russia from Kashkadarya region of the Republic of Uzbekistan. 

Such a measure was taken by the Service in accordance with paragraph 1 of Article VII of the International Plant Protection Convention (Rome, 1951, as amended in 1997), paragraph 40 of Article 2 and paragraph 1 of Article 17 of the Federal Law of 21.07.2014 No. 206-FZ "On Quarantine plants ".

Earlier, the Rosselkhoznadzor imposed a ban on the import of tomatoes and peppers in connection with the detection of brown wrinkle virus in tomato fruits from two other regions of Uzbekistan from 26 November from Ferghana region and from 4 December from Navoi region.
