Retail turnover exceeds 131.7 trillion soums in 2018

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Retail trade turnover in Uzbekistan made up 131.76 trillion soums in January-December and increased, compared with the same period of last year, by 5.5%.

The State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan notes that the turnover of large enterprises amounted to 18.08 trillion soums (growth rate 24.2%), small businesses - 113.68 trillion soums (growth rate of 3.0%). Of the total turnover of small business sales of goods in the unorganized trade reached 15.44 trillion soums (compared with the same period of last year, a decrease of 2.7%).

In all regions of Uzbekistan, an increase in retail sales was observed, compared with the same period of last year. At the same time, relatively high growth rates were observed in Khorezm, Jizzakh, Andijan and Bukhara regions.

In the structure of retail trade turnover, the volume of commodity turnover of large enterprises increased, compared to the same period of last year, by 24.2% and reached 18.08 trillion soums, accounting for 13.7% of total sales.

Retail trade turnover of small businesses, according to statistical calculations, made up 113.68 trillion soums compared to the same period of last year, increased by 3.0%. The share of this sector in the republic in the retail trade turnover reached 86.3%.

This indicator, in comparison with other regions, was higher in Syrdarya (93.6%), Kashkadarya (92.6%), Surkhandarya (92.4%), Navoi (91.4%) and Jizzakh (91.2%) regions.

In the structure of retail trade, the share of turnover of large enterprises is 13.7% of total sales, while the major share of large enterprises was observed in the city of Tashkent (24.5%), Khorezm (19.9%) and Bukhara (12.8%) regions.

Retail trade turnover per capita in all regions of the country increased, compared with the same period of last year. This indicator, in comparison with other regions, was more in Tashkent (11.85 million soums), Navoi (5.65 million soums) and Tashkent regions (4.82 million soums). This can be explained by the location of large commercial and industrial enterprises in these regions.

The turnover of retail trade per capita in the republic in January-December 2018 averaged 3.99 million soums (compared with the same period of last year increased by 3.7%).

In the past period of 2018, the share of trade turnover of catering enterprises in the structure of retail trade turnover was 2.7%, reaching 3.58 trillion soums. The growth rate made up 3.2% compared with the same period of last year. Of these, 85.2% of trade turnover accounted for small businesses.
