Record number of journalists to cover presidential elections

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Over 430 local and foreign journalists will cover presidential elections in Uzbekistan, the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan (CEC) said.

At its session, the CEC registered additional 88 national and foreign journalists. Earlier, about 342 mass media representatives received accreditation.

New accredited journalists represent leading newspapers, magazines, radio and television, as well as online editions of Azerbaijan, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Egypt, Israel, India, Iran, China, Kuwait, Latvia, Malaysia, UAE, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, France, South Korea and Japan.

In the result, over 430 mass media representatives will cover presidential elections in Uzbekistan. In line with the legislation, they have right to participate in events on preparing and holding elections, visit polling stations and participate in vote counting.

It is worth to mention that over 340 representatives of local and foreign mass media covered parliamentary elections in 2014.
