Reconstruction Begins on Apartment Building in Andijan Following Gas-Air Explosion

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Reconstruction work has begun on the multi-story residential building in Andijan where a gas-air explosion occurred on 11 February 2026, the regional hokimiyat reported.

The incident took place at 23:55 in the Nodirabegim mahalla. Preliminary information indicates that the explosion occurred on the ninth floor of the nine-story building. No fire broke out after the incident, and neighboring apartments, authorities note, were not affected.

Andijan Regional Hokim Shukhratbek Abdurakhmonov personally visited the site and took the situation under his direct supervision. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the explosion.

The regional head held a meeting with the building’s residents, informing them that they will be temporarily accommodated in a hotel for the duration of the reconstruction work. Buses have been arranged to transport them.
