Putin and Mirziyoyev Discuss Strengthening Strategic Partnership

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11 November, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Kremlin press service reported.

The leaders discussed a wide range of issues related to further strengthening strategic partnership and allied relations between Russia and Uzbekistan, with particular focus on joint projects in the energy sector.

They noted the significant contribution of interregional cooperation to the development of trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian ties, highlighting the practical outcomes of the Council of Regions meeting between Russia and Uzbekistan held in October 2025 near Moscow.

According to the press service of the Uzbek President, the conversation emphasized maintaining steady growth in bilateral trade and further promoting industrial cooperation in priority economic sectors, including energy projects.

The leaders also stressed the importance of expanding business interactions between regions of the two countries and developing cultural and humanitarian ties.

They underscored the significance of effective preparation for the upcoming meeting of the Uzbekistan–Russia Intergovernmental Commission on December 3, along with the associated business forum, which is expected to provide an additional boost to bilateral cooperation.

The presidents also exchanged views on current international issues and agreed to continue regular contacts at various levels.
