Providing consulting services to the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 July, a video seminar was held to discuss the results of the initial stage of the project "Provision of consulting services to the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region", funded by the Islamic Development Bank.

The seminar was attended by representatives of various international organizations (JICA, KOICA, GIZ and others), foundations, agencies and institutions. Also, the seminar was attended by representatives of a number of specialized organizations, ministries and research institutes of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The video seminar was divided into two sessions. In the first session, the head of the project, director of the group of operational risks and sustainable development I. Barsola made a speech on the topic "Introduction to the purpose of the project."

Further, representatives of the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research under the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan, KPMG Russia and KPMG Kazakhstan spoke.

During their speeches, the speakers revealed in detail the essence of this project. During the seminar, international experts shared their observations on the ongoing activities in the region, and also discussed the activities of the Aral Sea International Innovation Center (ASIIC) and its role in solving socio-economic and environmental problems, ensuring food security in the region.

Representatives of the State Committee for Tourism noted that it is necessary to transform the activities of the ASIIC to serve as a bridge-coordinating center between ministries and departments. At the same time, the State Committee for Tourism Development in the Aral Sea region has developed 2 projects.

To date, these projects are underway. In addition, eco and agricultural projects are being implemented on the territory of the Aral Sea region based on the cluster method. For the implementation of these projects, volunteers living in the area and young people who showed interest were involved.

The second session was opened by senior consultant on risk management of KPMG Uzbekistan J. Jurabaev with his speech dedicated to the topic "Problems of financing ASIIC projects", followed by a senior consultant on risk management at KPMG Uzbekistan, A. Aldareva.

And also during the seminar such issues as were discussed: - personnel and personnel policy of ASIIC; - Assessment of the organizational and legal basis of the ASIIC; - medium-term (5-year) strategy for the development of the ASIIC.

At the end of the seminar, Deputy Minister of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Nazarov thanked all participants and noted the importance of strengthening cooperation between the parties. The seminar was organized by the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
