Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a video conference on curbing the spread of coronavirus infection and ensuring economic stability in the regions was also held today.

At the beginning of this year, our country and people set great goals for themselves. In March, the coronavirus, which spread to the whole world, also penetrated into Uzbekistan, due to which the plans changed. Measures to protect public health have become the main priority for the state.

A special republican commission was created. Medical institutions have been placed in emergency mode. In a short time, a special hospital and quarantine zones were built. Sanatoriums and camps are adapted for special institutions. The necessary funds from the budget were allocated to provide medicines, means of protection and diagnostics.

During these five troubling months, the President signed a number of decrees and decrees related to countering the coronavirus. In accordance with them, the population, sectors of the economy and business entities receive all possible support.

The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and khokims of the regions reported on the incidence rates, the number of patients undergoing treatment and the created reserve of beds. Local problems were openly discussed at the meeting. Measures are outlined to meet the needs of the regions for equipment and means to combat the pandemic.

The President instructed the responsible persons to monitor the situation in real time and promptly resolve any emerging problems.

The importance of high-quality and safe organization of treatment, as well as prevention of disease transmission, by providing the population and institutions with disinfectants, was emphasized.

Based on the needs of each region, the sources of supply of medicines, medical products and test systems, material incentives for medical workers have been determined.

The measures taken to assess the impact of the ongoing pandemic on the economy, ensure macroeconomic stability, timely implementation of investment projects, fulfill forecasts in agriculture, industry and construction, increase exports, comprehensive regional development, and support entrepreneurship are analyzed.

Noting a decrease in revenue at enterprises in each region, the head of state ordered to restore the activities of most construction and industrial enterprises by October 1, 2020 and all enterprises by the end of the year.

In a number of regions, it was not possible to fulfill the economic forecasts for the agricultural sector. In particular, the volume of gross agricultural product in the Republic of Karakalpakstan turned out to be 59 billion soums lower than the forecast. This figure is 177 billion soums in the Kashkadarya region, 173 billion in the Syrdarya region and 129 billion in the Tashkent region.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave instructions on filling the gaps in the harvesting of vegetables and melons at the expense of re-acreage, accelerating the distribution of poultry to households, widespread use of intensive technologies in animal husbandry and fishing, and increasing agricultural production by 3-4 percent by the end of the year.
