Progress of investment and foreign trade activity in Tashkent city discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 9 December, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan, under the leadership of Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov, hosted a discussion on the implementation of forecast indicators of investment and foreign trade in Tashkent over the 11 months, as well as Forecasts for attracting foreign direct investment and exports for 2020 and for the period 2020-2022 have been worked out.

Separately, these issues were considered together with the heads of ministries, departments, specialized state structures and economic associations in the context of each industry and economic sector.

The discussion was attended by the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Saidkarimov, members of the Republican Commission, heads of industry ministries and departments, khokims of Tashkent districts, as well as employees of the central apparatus of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade assigned to the districts.

Particular attention was paid to the need to revitalize sectoral ministries, departments and industrial associations to support business entities within a given industry, setting as a priority comprehensive stimulation of the creation of new high-tech industries, building up inter- and intra-industry value chains, increasing export potential and creating new workers places

In this context, the leadership of the Commission recommended intensifying cooperation with foreign partners and manufacturers in order to borrow advanced production practices, innovative technologies and introduce modern quality standards in production.

The urgency of taking prompt and effective measures to find new opportunities for attracting additional investments and concluding export agreements in order to unconditionally fulfill the established forecasts for 2019 was also emphasized.

Studying preliminary forecasts of indicators of investment and foreign trade for 2020 and for the period 2020-2022 revealed the need to review and optimize the data presented in order to maximize their approximation to the actual production and export potentials of entrepreneurs in Tashkent.

Following the discussion, the heads of sectoral ministries, departments and local authorities of the districts of Tashkent were given relevant instructions and instructions to ensure the fulfillment of forecasts of attracting foreign investment and exports in 2019, as well as the accelerated completion of forecasts for the next year and three-year perspective.
