Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 27 March, during the video conference held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the issues of preventing the spread of the coronavirus pandemic among the population, instructions were given to increase the production of medical masks and gowns (overalls) up to 5 million pieces per day. This was reported by the press service of the Association "Uztekstilprom".
In accordance with the instruction, the Uztekstilprom Association established monitoring of existing capacities, and measures were taken to increase volumes at the industry enterprises.
As of 31 March, the number of enterprises producing protective masks has reached 195, which is 9.3 times more compared to 1 March 2020. The daily production of masks is 2 million 640 thousand units.
At the same time, the production of medical gowns (overalls) is 9.0 thousand units a day, medical gauze - 398 thousand linear meters, and the number of enterprises is 24 units.
Protective masks are produced in almost all regions of the country, the largest number of masks are produced in Tashkent region (404 thousand pieces), Tashkent (283 thousand pieces), Kashkadarya region (232 thousand pieces).
The top three in terms of the number of mask makers included Bukhara region 28 enterprises, Tashkent city 20 enterprises, and 19 enterprises in the Kashkadarya region.
It should be noted that the above figures for the number of enterprises and production volumes relate to enterprises in which monitoring by the Uztekstilprom Association is established, and actual production volumes may differ from these figures.
Currently, measures are being taken to increase the production of masks to 5 million masks per day.
