Presidents of Uzbekistan and the US hold telephone conversation

Leaders of Uzbekistan and the United States discussed the state and prospects of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

The parties underlined that their meetings in Riyadh in May and New York in September, helped to strengthen relations in the areas of politics and security, trade, investment, finance, technological and cultural-humanitarian exchange, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan said.

President of the United States Donald Trump expressed support for new stage of democratic reforms and economic reforms, implemented in Uzbekistan aimed at strengthening foundations of civil society, ensuring the rule of law, liberalizing the economy and improving the welfare of the population.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Donald Trump exchanged views on topical international and regional issues of mutual interest.

In particular, the parties discussed the issues of ensuring regional security, including a peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan and the fight against terrorism and extremism.

The Presidents of Uzbekistan and the US called for further strengthening of bilateral strategic partnership on the principles of mutual respect, trust and consideration of each other’s interests.

During the conversation, President Donald Trump invited Shavkat Mirziyoyev to pay an official visit to the United States.
