President of Uzbekistan to Make State Visit to Pakistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a state visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on February 5–6, at the invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
During the visit, high-level meetings are scheduled in Islamabad with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the Chief of Defence Forces — Commander of the Pakistan Army, Field Marshal Asim Munir. The first session of the Strategic Cooperation Council will also take place.
The agenda will focus on deepening strategic partnership and expanding multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. Leaders are expected to review key areas for strengthening political dialogue, enhancing intergovernmental and parliamentary relations, and boosting business and regional collaboration.
Special attention will be given to increasing bilateral trade, advancing joint industrial, transport, and infrastructure projects, developing tourism, and continuing cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The parties will also exchange views on current international and regional issues.
Following the talks, a Joint Declaration and a comprehensive package of agreements on priority areas of cooperation are expected to be signed.
As part of the visit, President Mirziyoyev will also participate in a joint business forum with representatives from the leading business communities of both countries.
