President of Uzbekistan holds telephone conversation with South Korean leader

At the beginning of the conversation, Uzbek leader cordially congratulated President Moon Jae-in with his birthday, emphasizing his important role and huge personal contribution to development of relations of friendship and strategic partnership, expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.

It was stressed that the historic fruitful meetings and high-level talks in Seoul last November laid a solid foundation for building up multifaceted interaction and filled bilateral relations with concrete practical content.

President Moon Jae-in expressed sincere gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for warm congratulations and wishes. It was noted that "in the person of the head of our state he has found a true associate, friend and supporter of comprehensive strengthening of Uzbek-Korean cooperation".

During the conversation, the leaders of the two countries discussed in detail the issues of further expansion of Uzbek-Korean cooperation, exchanged views on the relevant aspects of the international and regional agenda.

Particular attention was paid to the active involvement of advanced Korean experience, knowledge and technology in the modernization of industry and infrastructure, development of the social sector in the republic.

South Korean President congratulated Uzbekistan with impressive performance of Uzbek team in the AFC U-23 Championship in China as the team reached the finals.

In turn, the President of Uzbekistan wholeheartedly wished the leadership and the people of the Republic of Korea a successful holding of the forthcoming Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, which, undoubtedly, will be included in the history of world sports, will become a real holiday of friendship and mutual understanding.

In conclusion, the heads of state reaffirmed the decisive spirit to comprehensively develop and strengthen the centuries-old ties of friendship and traditionally close partnership between the two countries and peoples.
