Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Under the contract for the modernization of the Farhad hydroelectric power station, Power Machines delivered a hydro turbine unit No. 2 to the construction site of the station, thereby completing the supply of the main equipment under the contract.
A hydraulic turbine with a maximum capacity of 33.7 MW was produced by the Kaluga Turbine Works, which for the first time in its history manufactured a turbine for a hydroelectric power station, by order of Power Machines. In the process of assembling the turbine, carbon fiber bushings were used, antifriction materials were used, and aluminum spraying was applied as a corrosion protection.
Earlier, Power Machines also delivered to the construction site of the Farhad HPP a guide apparatus for the modernization of hydroelectric unit No. 4. This equipment was not originally included in the contractual scope of supply. The decision on additional supply was made based on the results of equipment inspection in 2019.
The contract for the modernization of the Farhad HPP was concluded between Power Machines JSC and Uzbekhydroenergo JSC in 2017. In total, four hydroelectric units are being modernized, increasing the total capacity of the HPP by 11.4% - from 114 MW to 127 MW. The full service life of the hydraulic units will be 40 years.
Currently, at the construction site of the Farhad HPP, Power Machines are carrying out assembly work on the first and third hydroelectric units. Mechanical part of GA No. 1 is assembled, the impeller, turbine shaft, guide vanes, stator and rotor of the generator are mounted. Installation of equipment for automated process control systems, relay protection and automation equipment, 10 sq. Busbars, DC and AC busbars is in progress. Installation of auxiliary systems is being completed.
At GA # 3, the generator rotor was assembled and tested, the impeller and the turbine shaft were interconnected and prepared for installation in the crater of the hydroelectric unit. Preparatory work is underway for the installation of the guide vanes and the turbine bearing. Installation of equipment for the technical water supply system and generator fire extinguishing is in progress.
High-voltage equipment for outdoor switchgear-110 sq. the first stage is fully assembled. Also, equipment for the station's own needs was installed: switchgear-10 kV, SHSN-0.4 sq., SOPT. Autonomous adjustment of systems is in progress.
The implementation of the project will allow the renewed hydroelectric power station to increase the annual power generation by 84 million kWh to 531.2 million kWh per year.
