Uzbekistan is concerned about an increase in alcohol smuggling from Kazakhstan, Interfax-Kazakhstan news agency reported.
"Despite measures being taken, the flow of alcohol smuggled from Kazakhstan is not decreasing. The smuggling of counterfeit alcohol through the Uzbek-Kazakh border particularly increased in the spring-summer period," the Interfax news agency today learnt at the press service of the Uzbek National Security Service’s State Border Protection Committee (SBPC).
The press service said that about 100 attempts to smuggle alcohol from Kazakhstan have been prevented on the Uzbek-Kazakh border since the beginning of the year. Over 13 tonnes of spirit, vodka, wine and other "strong" drinks were seized.
