Persons, involved in counterfeiting of banknotes in denominations of 100,000 soums, detained in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the night of 4 May 2019, four citizens of Uzbekistan, who were engaged in counterfeiting of banknotes in denominations of 100,000 soums and their sale, were detained in Tashkent, the Uzbek police said.

In Chilanzar district of the capital, they sold 7 of these bills to 23-year-old Shoira A. In turn, Shoira A. paid off one of these bills with 33-year-old Homidullo M., a driver of the Nexia car, engaged in private carriages. Khomidullo M., finding that the bill was fake, reported this to the traffic police inspectors, who served nearby.

The police determined the car of young people and detained them. When checking the car in the glove compartment, they found 51 counterfeit banknotes in denominations of 100,000 soums, 25 sheets of A4 paper with printed national currency banknotes and a Canon printer used in the manufacture of counterfeit banknotes.

According to the forensic examination, all 58 bills in denominations of 100,000 soums, seized in the case, were fake.

A criminal case was initiated against young people under part 2 of Article 176 (“Production, sale of counterfeit money, excise stamps or securities”) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the preliminary investigation carried out in the Yunusabad District Office of Internal Affairs, Sardor S. admitted that they sold fake national currency bills in various districts of the city of Tashkent.
