Over 3,700 Uzbek citizens cross the Kazakh-Uzbek border

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As previously reported, in the period from 1 to 7 July, more than 2700 compatriots returned to the Zhibek Zholy - Gisht-Kuprik checkpoint. However, due to technical problems, the crossing of fellow citizens of the Kazakh-Uzbek border was carried out in a limited number, which caused the accumulation of about 3,000 citizens of Uzbekistan.

As a result of the joint work of the Special Republican Commission, the Border Troops of the State Security Service and the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan, on 8 July, all technical and organizational issues that impeded the free crossing of fellow citizens of the Kazakh-Uzbek border were promptly resolved.

According to the information of the Operational Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, from the evening of 8 July and during the day of 9 July 2020, the Zhibek Zholy-Gisht-Kuprik checkpoint was crossed by 3746 fellow citizens.

Currently, there are no problems with crossing the interstate border, checkpoints operate as usual, and there is no crowding at the checkpoint.

Upon returning home, all citizens must undergo 14-day quarantine with strict observance of the relevant requirements determined by the Special Republican Commission.
