Over 10,090 schools operate in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- General secondary education consists of primary education (I-IV classes), basic secondary (V-IX classes), general secondary education (X-XI classes) and is carried out in the form of full-time education, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

At the initiative of our President, on the basis of studying the proposals of parents, teachers, youth and the general public, 11-year secondary education was restored in our country. In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to radically improve the system of general secondary, secondary specialized and vocational education” of January 25, 2018, from the academic year 2018/2019, compulsory general secondary education is carried out on the basis of continuous 11-year education. At the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year, the number of general educational institutions in the Republic of Uzbekistan reached 10,090 units, 91 of which are private general educational institutions.

Compared with the same period of the last school year, the number of general educational institutions in the period under review increased by 316 units, of which 34 are private general educational institutions.

In the Republic of Uzbekistan, general education institutions are divided into three types: primary, general secondary, etc. Of the total number of secondary schools at the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year, 9963 are secondary schools, 37 are primary, 90 are other institutions. In total, 6137.5 thousand students study at secondary schools, 5.2 at primary schools, and 21.7 thousand at other institutions.

In terms of the number of students enrolled in the first grade (class) of general education institutions, at the beginning of the school year 2019/2020, the highest indicator was recorded in Samarkand, Fergana and Kashkadarya regions, less than in other regions, they were recorded in Syrdarya and Navoi regions.

In the 2019/2020 academic year, the number of students conducting studies in general educational institutions in one shift, there are 2422 units. (24.2%), two shifts - 7556 units (75.7%), three shifts - 10 units (0.1%). It was noted that 4,075.6 thousand people (66.3%) were studying in the first shift, 2065.0 (33.7%) in the second, and 2.1 thousand people (0.1%) in the third shift.

The total number of teachers at the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year was 486.6 thousand people, of which 53% work in rural schools, 47% in urban schools. In Uzbekistan, an average of thirteen students per teacher.

At the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year, the highest percentage of teachers in secondary schools was observed in such disciplines as native language and literature, English, mathematics, physical education, Russian language and literature, and the percentage of teachers in these academic disciplines is higher than among teachers in other items.

At the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year (without schools for children with disabilities in physical or mental development), the highest indicator for the number of students aged 6 years studying in educational institutions was recorded in Tashkent and Andijan region, the lowest indicator was in Jizzakh and Navoi region.

The number of graduates of 11th grades of educational institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the beginning of the 2019/2020 academic year amounted to 280.3 thousand people. The highest indicators in the republic are in Kashkadarya (32.5 thousand people) and Samarkand (30.4 thousand people) regions, the lowest indicators are in Navoi (10.5 thousand people) and Syrdarya (6.1 thousand people) ) areas.

At the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year, 6146.3 thousand students were studying in general educational institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan (without schools for children with disabilities in physical or mental development), of which boys make up 3165.7 thousand people (51.5%), girls - 2980.6 thousand people (48.5%).

The main goal of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the process of raising to a new level of comprehensive mutually beneficial cooperation with developed countries is to prepare promising young people, create conditions for the young generation to deeply study foreign languages, including German and French, increase their intellectual potential, educate young people who can even more increase the credibility of our country in the international arena. By the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year, foreign languages are taught in 9986 educational institutions of our country, of which English in 9639 , German in 1316 and French in 931.

At the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year in our country, 6149.6 thousand students studying foreign languages were studying in 9986 general educational institutions (without schools for children with physical or mental disabilities), of which 5594.5 thousand people (91, 0%) study English, 322.2 thousand (5.2%) - German, 225.2 thousand (3.7%) - French, 7.5 thousand (0.1%) - Spanish, Korean , Arabic, etc.

In particular, 623.3 thousand people (11.1%) are studying English in the Samarkand region, 616.3 thousand people (11.0%) in the Ferghana region, the lowest indicator is noted in Syrdarya region - 152.5 thousand .people (2.7%).

By the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year, the total number of teachers in secondary schools was 486.6 thousand people (without part-time jobs), on average, there are 13 students per teacher in the Republic of Uzbekistan, of which the highest indicator by region was noted in Tashkent, where on average there are 19 students per teacher, and the lowest indicator recorded in Navoi region - on average per teacher there are 9 students.

In the Republic of Uzbekistan at the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year, the number of general educational institutions with computer classes was 9685 units, or 96.0% of their total. They are equipped with 184.9 thousand computers, which is 8.5 thousand units. (4.8%) more than in the corresponding period of the last school year. At the beginning of the 2017/2018 school year, there were 32 computers for every thousand students, and 30 in the current school year.
