Osaka private companies show interest in doing business in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to strengthen and expand economic ties between Japan and Uzbekistan, attract Japanese investments in various spheres of the republic’s economy, as well as expand humanitarian ties with Japan, the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan held meetings with representatives of scientific and educational business circles of the city of Osaka.

During the trip, negotiations were held with the leadership of Osaka University: Vice President for Global Engagement Genta Kawahara and Associate Professor of the Center for Global Initiatives Ariunaa Enkhtur on expanding cooperation in the field of education and science.

Osaka University is one of the largest universities in Japan. It includes 27 schools (11 of them prepare bachelors, 16 - masters and postgraduates), 5 research institutes and 3 national institutes for joint use (Research Center for Nuclear Physics, Cybermedia Center, Institute of Laser Engineering).

Osaka University ranked 3rd in Japan and 71st in the world according to the QS World University Rankings 2020. The university has well-developed natural sciences (physics, chemistry), engineering, astronomy, robotics and other areas.

G. Kawahara noted that the Japanese university is interested in cooperation with Uzbek universities, primarily in the field of student and researcher exchanges. According to him, training in almost all post-bachelor programs (master’s, postgraduate studies) is conducted in English, which removes the language barrier that is significant for foreign students.

They also discussed the establishment of relations with research organizations of Uzbekistan, including with the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and its institutes, the Uzbek-Japanese youth center for innovation.

During the trip, meetings were also held with representatives of a number of Japanese companies in Osaka, during which they were brought to their attention detailed information about the "Renewed Uzbekistan", in particular about the results achieved in recent years in liberalizing the economy, increasing investment attractiveness, provided benefits and preferences.

The TOMOE VALVE, which has now created the UZBEX Japan company to start cooperation with Uzbekistan, is ready to open a representative office in the republic, invest and establish production for the Uzbek market and export to third countries.

The products are used in many industries around the world, including oil and gas, petrochemical, marine, water treatment, food, automotive and energy. The company has offices, representative offices and production facilities in the USA, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Europe, Asia.

As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached on organizing a visit of the company’s representatives to Uzbekistan.

During the negotiations, the Kuraray company noted that it has now started working with the Art Soft Tex and BCT Cluster companies within the terry towel production project and has already received the first batches of samples.

In addition, the representatives of the company especially noted that the republic has a huge potential for the production of high-quality products and the possibility of competing with world manufacturers such as India and China.

Negotiations were held with the companies "Oji Holdings Corporation" and "Ray Corporation", engaged in the production and installation of treatment facilities. The interlocutors expressed their readiness to cooperate with companies of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the implementation of joint projects and asked to provide a more detailed need for treatment facilities and ongoing projects in the republic for water purification.

Also, meetings were held with compatriots studying and working in Japanese companies in Osaka. As a result, an agreement was reached on holding regular meetings and intensifying the work of compatriots in order to expand economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and the city of Osaka.
