Opportunities for Women in STEM: British Council Scholarship Programme Open to Applicants from Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The British Council has announced the opening of applications for fully funded scholarships for women researchers from Uzbekistan under the Women in STEM programme, launched to mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, observed on 11 February.

The programme is designed to support studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) at leading universities in the United Kingdom.

In 2026, a total of 15 scholarships have been allocated for women from Türkiye, the Western Balkans, Central Asia, and the South Caucasus.

Each recipient will have the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree at one of three universities: the University of Bath, the University of Bradford, or Durham University, with five places available at each institution. The core objective of the programme is to provide women with high-quality education and international experience, enabling them to contribute to the development of the STEM sector in their home countries.

The value of each scholarship for the 2026–2027 academic year is at least £40,000. The package covers tuition fees, a living allowance, travel and visa costs, health insurance, as well as support for English language development.

In addition to financial support, the scholarships offer opportunities for professional networking with leading experts and include integration into the global alumni network of UK universities.

The programme is primarily aimed at women who have not previously had the opportunity to study abroad and gives priority to candidates who are unable to self-finance their education. Applications are open to women of all ages, provided they meet the academic requirements of the chosen university programme, including holding a bachelor’s degree.

Applications and detailed information are available on the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM webpage.

The application deadline is the end of April 2026.
