Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An editorial was published on the website of the Omani newspaper “Times of Oman” under the heading “Uzbekistan puts into operation a chemical plant built by Chinese companies”, Dunyo reported.
The author of the article says that an event was held in Uzbekistan dedicated to the launch of a complex for the production of polyvinyl chloride, caustic soda and methanol of Navoiazot joint-stock company, built with the participation of Chinese companies.
“The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the opening ceremony and expressed gratitude to all parties, including foreign investors and partners involved in the implementation of the project.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the head of Uzbekistan said that “the project has significantly changed the situation related to the country’s dependence on imports of polyvinyl chloride, caustic soda and methanol, and also contributed to the creation of a large number of new jobs, which is of great importance for ensuring the further economic development of Uzbekistan. We hope to continue to cooperate with Chinese enterprises in this area,” the author of the article writes.
It is further reported that the project was implemented jointly with Chinese companies China CAMC Engineering Co., Ltd. and HQC (Shanghai).
The annual capacity of the new enterprise is 100 thousand tons of polyvinyl chloride, 75 thousand tons of caustic soda, 300 thousand tons of methanol. At the same time, 900 new jobs will be created.
“The complex, in addition to providing local enterprises with the necessary raw materials, plans to provide annual export of products in the amount of US$40 million,” the publication emphasizes.
