Number of permanent population exceeds 29.7m people

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Number of permanent population of Uzbekistan, in line with preliminary data, made up 29.736 million people as of 1 July 2012, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

The committee said that number of permanent population rose by 180,300 people or by 0.6% compared to the beginning of 2012.

At the same time, some 15.219 million people live in cities and 14.517 million people – in rural areas. The ratio of city and rural population makes up 51.2% and 48.8% from total population respectively.

The committee said that Uzbekistan holds 44th place in the world on number of population. Uzbekistan’s share in total population of the world makes up 0.42%.
