Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- With the participation of scientists from the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, new types of biological fertilizers for agriculture "Fosstim" and "Rizokom" have been created. This is the result of the initial activities of the US-Uzbekistan joint venture Green Biotech. Ecologically safe biofuel created and patented by the Institute has the property of integrated control of plant diseases and pests, and it has no analogues in the world. Biofertilizers created on the basis of biological technologies exclude the use of pesticides in agriculture, increase soil fertility, and fight plant diseases and pests.
Green Biotech JV LLC is an innovative company created jointly with the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan after the signing of a Memorandum between the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the American company Biotech Invest Group LLC, which subsequently became an investor. Investments in the amount of 9.6 billion soums were made to finance this project, the expected annual income from the business is 7.5 billion soums. Given that the average annual income of the Research Institute of Microbiology FA is currently 472.5 million soums, it is not difficult to imagine the scale of profit from an innovative product.
At the initial stage of the project, the necessary equipment for production was installed. The investor contributed 1.7 billion soums for these purposes and the process of commercializing the product began, setting up production of 1000 liters of biofertilizer per month.
“The project is being implemented at the expense of a foreign investor,” said the head of the Laboratory of Soil Microbiology and Biotechnology, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Gulnora Dzhumaniyezova. These types of biofertilizers are used in the processing of husk seeds, conifers, melons and potatoes before planting, and are also recommended for increasing the fertility of saline soils and crop yields.
So, the Institute of Microbiology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and the joint venture innovation company Green biotech LLC created a new generation of powerful biofertilizers and biostimulants called "Fosstim" and "Rizokom", and their experimental production was launched. Its production capacity can provide more than 2 million hectares of land. In 2019, these biofertilizers were tested and obtained more positive results than expected: the consumption of chemical and mineral fertilizers decreased, the level of soil and plant pollution by phosphorization, salinity, metatoxin decreased, the fertility of saline lands increased, and the ecological situation improved; irrigation water consumption decreased by 30 percent, and crop yields increased, which led to an increase in agricultural exports.
