New opportunities for the development of investment and industrial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia considered

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 March, a meeting was held between Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov in Moscow.

During the dialogue, the sides discussed issues of Uzbek-Russian cooperation in the field of investment and industrial cooperation, the progress of a number of promising investment projects, as well as the current state of preparation for joint events.

The parties paid great attention to the elaboration of promising projects in the fields of pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, aircraft construction and other sectors of the economy. The existing issues of the bilateral agenda were discussed, further steps were outlined to enhance interaction at the level of relevant ministries, departments and private sector companies of the two countries.

The possibilities for deepening industrial cooperation between Uzbek and Russian enterprises, including in the textile industry, agriculture, logistics and other areas, were considered.

An agreement was reached to intensify the joint development of new bilateral investment and trade agreements during the planned visits of delegations of ministries, departments and regional administrations of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the regions of the Russian Federation.

The issues of implementation of new joint projects and programs within the framework of the created Project Office between the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation were substantively considered.

A reconciliation of hours was carried out on the implementation of the Cooperation Program in the field of industrial cooperation, which includes 104 projects for US$5.8 billion.

The parties also agreed to accelerate the implementation of the previously agreed Internship and Professional Development Program in the field of sectoral industrial development at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation for civil servants of Uzbekistan.

In addition, they discussed issues related to the organization and holding of a number of joint events, including the II Forum of Interregional Cooperation, the opening of the exhibition and cultural center of the Republic of Uzbekistan in pavilion No. 66 on the territory of the All-Russian Exhibition Center "VDNKh", the National Exhibition of Products "Made in Uzbekistan” in Moscow, as well as the Media Forum and the Educational Forum.

As a result of the meeting, the parties expressed their commitment to active and systematic work in all areas of intersection of mutual interests in order to achieve concrete results within the scheduled time frame.
