MPs consider reports of political parties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan held a session on 13 March, the press service of lower house of the Uzbek parliament said.

At the session, MPs considered reports of political parties on source of financing their activities in 2014. Officials of Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Milliy Tiklanish” and Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan presented reports on financing activities of the parties in 2014.

It was noted that role and importance of political parties in solving important social issues and activities of the parlament increased.

In line with the law “On financing political parties”, each party, which received enough seats in the partliament to form faction, has right to receive state funds to finance their activities. The volume of state resources is set in the result of elections to the Legislative Chamber and distributed among political parties, proportionally on number of the MPs seat at the Legislative Chamber.

The politically parties are financed in line with the legislation of Uzbekistan based on principles of legality, openness, transparency and equality of political parties. All political parties ensured that their members and public have access to information on their financing and published information on volume and sources of their financing.

It was noted that all parties submitted financial reports in order and terms, set by the legislation of Uzbekistan.

MPs underlined that passed elections showed that political parties are playing more important role in life of Uzbekistan, building civil society and developing democratic state. MPs said that parliamentary control should play key role in strengthening financial discipline of political parties.

After discussion, MPs took into account the report of political parties on sources of financing of their activities in 2014.
