Morocco. Textile industry of Uzbekistan in the spotlight of international experts

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 13-15 November, in the city of Marakesh, Morocco, the Global Conference of Production Companies "Using Technologies for Development" is being held.

This conference is held every two years by the International Finance Corporation and brings together IFC clients - world business leaders, representatives of the governments of the countries where IFC operates, as well as international experts from around the world to exchange knowledge, ideas and best practices.

More than 200 international experts from the USA, Germany, India, Morocco, Great Britain, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Vietnam gathered at a single platform to discuss issues of development trends in the global textile industry.

The chairman of the Association "Uztekstilprom" Ilkhom Khaidarov was invited to this event as a speaker.

The designation of the report by Ilkhom Khaidarov, as the main one, along with leading experts from the "textile" countries, is not accidental. Reforms in the textile industry: high rates of growth in the production of finished textile products, exports of US$2.1 billion, addressing the elimination of forced labor through the introduction of cotton-textile clusters in practice, the successful holding of the Global Textile Days Tashkent 2019 textile week, held in the capital on 9-14 September aroused great interest of the international community.

Experts praised the work of the "round table" carried out in Brussels (Belgium) together with the Eurovaktiv information portal and the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Belgium on the theme: "Import of clothing into the EU. Achieving sustainability and transparency in the supply chain”, where the main attention was paid to the development of the textile industry in Uzbekistan.

As part of the participation in the conference, I. Khaidarov shared the experience of Uzbekistan in addressing the impact of technology on the development of the textile industry, as well as the introduction of cotton-textile clusters in the country.

It is also noteworthy that on the first day of the conference B.S. Valdva, Executive Director of Indorama Corp. informed the participants about the start of the cotton-textile project of the company in Uzbekistan. Earlier, statements related to cotton and textile products from Uzbekistan were evaluated critically.

In addition, a number of bilateral meetings were held with representatives of the International Finance Corporation, the International Labor Organization, the Ministry of Industry of Morocco, the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, businessmen and experts from Bangladesh, Vietnam, India, and the USA.
