Monument to World War II hero opens in Nukus
Ambassador of Russia to Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev and other officials, veterans of war and labour front, and others participated at the event.
Tyurdenev noted that the 70th anniversary of victory in the World War II and it is memorable date for Russia and Uzbekistan.
“We paid great attention to marking the 70th anniversary of victory in the World War II. It is necessary not to forget tragic events and people, who fought against fasicm,” he said.
He added that the monument to Hero of Soviet Union and participant of Kursk battle of the World War II Nikolai Saraev is opened today. He was called to Army in 1942 and served at combat-engineer battalion. He participated in battles at Seim and Desna rivers, for Karpaty, and freeing Poland. He recalled that he received title of Hero of Soviet Union.
