Mirziyoyev Reviews Projects for Tourism and Transport Infrastructure Development
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on large-scale construction projects aimed at developing Uzbekistan’s tourism, transport, and social infrastructure.
During the meeting, it was noted that the country’s high economic growth rate, active foreign policy, expanding international cooperation, and transformation into a center for business and tourism require proactive and balanced infrastructure development. Particular attention is being paid to the creation of modern transport networks, service facilities, and public buildings capable of meeting the growing needs of the population and businesses.
Key regional projects include the construction of a Congress Center and a historical-ethnographic park in Khiva, which will enable the hosting of major international events and increase tourist flows. The city is also set to open a Confucius Institute and the Lu Ban Workshop, which will implement cultural and educational programs and prepare youth for modern professions.
Special focus is placed on the modernization of Urgench International Airport, including infrastructure expansion, improvement of passenger and cargo services, and enhanced logistics capabilities. As part of transport development, a dedicated railway line is planned from Urgench Railway Station to the airport, significantly improving passenger mobility. Projects are also being developed to upgrade and green the Urgench–Khiva highway and construct an alternative road.
In Fergana, the construction of an expo center is planned to host international exhibitions, business forums, and large-scale events, enhancing the region’s investment attractiveness. A scientific research center named after Burhaniddin Margilani is also proposed, designed to operate at an international level in the field of spiritual heritage and research, with the formation of a modern scientific school.
Educational projects include the construction of a new campus for Bukhara State University, offering comfortable conditions for faculty and students. In Tashkent, a modern rhythmic gymnastics complex is planned, providing full facilities for developing young talent and training professional athletes.
The President emphasized the need to strictly adhere to quality, ergonomics, and modern urban planning standards in all projects, while considering the needs of the population. He instructed responsible officials to ensure the effective and timely implementation of the planned initiatives.
