Mirziyoyev proposes to elect governors

Speaking at the solemn ceremony dedicated to the 24th anniversary of Constitution, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that in future Uzbekistan should think and discuss issues of election of local governors by the people.

He said that if each region elects its leader, responsibility of governors before people and society will increase sharply.

Currently, the governors of 12 regions and Tashkent are appointed and fired by the president after approval of corresponding Council of People’s Deputies.
