Mirziyoyev Opens Youth Creative Park in Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 18 March, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in the Samarkand region and began his visit by inspecting a newly established youth creative town and public park in the city center.

As Samarkand continues to grow rapidly, with increasing population and expanding infrastructure, the need for more green areas and public recreational spaces has become more pressing. Within the framework of the nationwide “Yashil Makon” initiative, more than 16 million trees are planted annually, with plans to add 6.3 million fruit and ornamental trees and shrubs across the region this spring.

The youth creative town and park were developed on a 5.4-hectare site that previously housed a military hospital on Uzbekistan Street. The project, implemented with over 70 billion soums in sponsor funding, integrates five heritage buildings that now host a modern library, training center, creative studios, and facilities dedicated to artificial intelligence, 3D modeling, robotics, and esports.

The complex also includes an information resource center, sports halls, and an underground eco-museum. It is designed as a multifunctional space for IT education, sports activities, and startup development.

The park features the regional chess federation with facilities for training camps and competitions, as well as children’s attractions, fitness centers, table tennis halls, tennis courts, workout areas, and mini-golf zones. Recreational areas for older visitors have also been created, including more than ten traditional pavilions.

During the visit, the president reviewed the activities of the German language and examination center “Profi Deutsch.” For the first time in Central Asia, a “Telc” center has opened in Samarkand, enabling young people to study German and obtain internationally recognized certificates. Graduates will have opportunities to continue their education within Germany’s dual vocational training system and secure employment. Five additional centers are planned in other regions this year.

Mirziyoyev also ознакомился with the “Heirs of Muhammad al-Khwarizmi” project, which offers advanced training in digital technologies and foreign languages for students in grades 8–11, with certification upon completion.

Projects from Aloqa Bank and the National Bank aimed at supporting youth entrepreneurship and startups were presented, along with initiatives such as “Ibrat Farzandlari,” “Mutolaa,” and the “Girls’ Academy.”

The president met with young participants and reviewed their initiatives, including environmental projects under the Eco-Schools Uzbekistan program of the Zamin International Foundation.

He emphasized that the development of high-tech industries and job creation depends on a well-educated generation and urged young people to make full use of their time for learning and self-improvement.

Following the visit, officials were instructed to expand the number of similar education and recreation centers across Samarkand.
