Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Amir Temur Square in Tashkent, where he laid a wreath at the foot of the monument to the outstanding statesman and military leader. The event took place as part of the celebration of the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur’s birth, which is being accompanied by large-scale spiritual, educational, scientific, and cultural events across the country.

Amir Temur is regarded as a key historical figure who played a vital role in the restoration of statehood in the 14th century. The empire he founded exerted a significant influence on the development of world civilization, and his legacy continues to generate interest among researchers worldwide. In Uzbekistan, particular importance is placed on studying the Temurid era, especially in the context of modern reforms and the formation of the foundations for a new stage of national development. The ideas of justice attributed to Amir Temur are viewed as an important guide in the implementation of state policy and social transformations.

In recent years, the country has increased its focus on popularizing the historical heritage of the Temurids. On the occasion of the anniversary, a separate resolution was adopted, under which a comprehensive set of measures is being implemented. Specifically, April has been declared the month of Amir Temur, new scientific and artistic works are being created, and historical texts, including the "Institutes of Temur," are being republished.

An international conference dedicated to Amir Temur and the era of the Temurid Renaissance is also being held in the capital, featuring scientists, cultural representatives, and public figures from various countries.

As part of the policy to preserve historical heritage, major cultural and educational facilities have been constructed in recent years, including the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent and the Imam Bukhari complex in Samarkand. Additionally, the State Museum of the History of the Temurids has been modernized to serve as a platform for scientific and educational activities.

During the ceremony, tribute was paid to the memory of Amir Temur, and flowers were laid at the monument. Landscaping work was also carried out in the square, continuing traditions associated with the development of gardens and urban spaces. At the conclusion of the event, the President of Uzbekistan planted a tree on the grounds of the square.
